Our Solution

We convert captured carbon into syn gas, taking on two critical challenges in the energy transition:

Decreasing dependency on
fossil fuels.

We turn carbon dioxide (CO2) into low-carbon fuel alternatives. Syn gas can be consumed as a fuel or a base chemical, or it can be converted into methanol, diesel and SAF.

Reducing the costs of carbon capture.

By converting a waste stream into a value stream we unlock carbon capture projects.

Our Technology

Our straightforward and flexible technology aligns with current infrastructure and allows our customers to lower their carbon emissions up to 80% without the need for a Green Premium.

Our technology has been developed by the world-renowned Biomass Technology Laboratory of the Université de Sherbrooke (UdS) and matured in partnership with the Canadian government's research institute.

Flexibility in our ability to convert CO2 from various industrial sources.

There is no need to remove impurities from the CO2 and as our reactor operates under atmospheric pressure there is no need for CO2 compression.

Flexibility in our basic input requirements.

The energy input for our reactor is heat. Depending on the site conditions, this can come from renewable electricity, waste heat or another source.

Flexibility in our output of higher value.

We can adapt the H2 to CO ratio from 1:1 up to 3:1. This provides flexibility to the consumer or e-fuel producer, making the next step of the process more efficient.

Power-to-X Conversion

Our technology significantly lowers the Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) and Operational Expenses (OPEX) of carbon conversion through the elimination of the electrolysis.

Secant Fuel was founded in 2024 by Hard Climate, Canada’s first climate tech venture studio, and the world-renowned Biomass Technology Laboratory from Université de Sherbrooke.
